MOOSE HISTORICAL FENCING
(we use swords— and you can too!)
Who We Are
Moose Historical Fencing is a fencing club in Portland, Maine devoted to the study and training of longsword and medieval weapons.
We are committed to the reconstruction of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) studying once-lost systems of combat, which have been resurrected from original period sources into living systems we can practice today.
Moose Historical Fencing promotes an inclusive, safe, fun, and educational environment in which to learn and experience this ancient martial art.
Practices
Join us for a practice, or just come and check us out! We welcome everybody regardless of physical condition or fighting experience, and we are happy to train beginners who would like to learn more about the art of historical longsword fencing.
Note: We do ask beginners to take part in our beginner’s curriculum, which we run multiple times throughout the year. We currently require proof of vaccination in order to practice. Please email proof of vaccination ahead of time at moosehistoricalfencing@gmail.com
